BEATRICE HUNTINGTON (1889-1988)
Albarracin Cathedral, Aragon

Circa 1928
Pencil on paper

There is a possibility that this unsigned sketch could be by William Macdonald rather than Beatrice Huntington as they travelled and worked together in Spain. It can, however, be identified as a view of the Cathedral of Albarracin, and so relates directly to the street view (cat.17) she painted there in 1928. It also relates in composition to her watercolour sketch of Teruel, Aragon, also painted in 1928, sharing a similar perspective of a hill-top town. Whilst William is more famous for his Spanish landscapes, none of his sketches are known to survive.
